Paris 2024 Olympics: Ticket prices deemed high by head of world athletics

The president of the International Athletics Federation, Sebastian Coe, expressed his regret on Monday about the “high” price of tickets for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The former Olympic champion, who led the organization of the 2012 London Games, highlighted the need to “take into consideration” the families of the athletes.

“Our concern will always be to have supporters in the stadiums to watch events at affordable prices that allow us to develop our sport,” Coe said, especially calling for consideration for the families of the athletes who will be traveling to support their loved ones.

With a total of over 7.6 million tickets already on sale for the Paris Games, some are offered at the minimum price of 24 euros, while others, especially for athletics competitions, cost up to 690 euros.

Despite his concerns, the former Olympic champion wished “good luck” to Tony Estanguet, the president of the French organizing committee, and his colleagues, hoping “that the Games will take place safely and not in an atmosphere of confinement.”

The aim of the International Athletics Federation is to create an environment for the sport as good as possible. Sebastian Coe shared this view on a conference call with news agencies. He also wants the French organizing committee to do everything possible to fill the stadiums, even though ticket prices are often considered high.

Sebastian Coe, an Olympic gold medalist and former head of the 2012 London Olympics, wants the Paris Games to be successful and safe for everyone involved. He also advocated for affordable ticket prices to ensure broad support for the athletics events.
