Octavio Ocaña’s Family Turns the Case in His Favor

The family of Mexican actor Octavio Ocaña recently held a press conference at the CDMX National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) to update the public on the legal process for minors. During the conference, it was announced that the Attorney General of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) would reclassify the crime in question, which Ocaña was the victim of.

Previously being investigated as manslaughter, the case has now been intervened and reclassified as intentional homicide. The conference also revealed that certain elements of the Cuatitlán Izcalli police violated Ocaña’s human rights, as declared by the CNDH.

While addressing the public, Ocaña’s relatives explained that they have been aware from the start that their brother’s human rights were violated. They emphasized the importance of the right to life but did not shy away from the abuses committed by authorities.

Once the authorities confirm the abuses related to intentional homicide, Ocaña’s family will have the right to demand compensation, including a public apology, psychological care, and a guarantee of non-repetition of the crime.

In addition to seeking justice for Ocaña, his family is also fighting to prevent similar crimes from happening again in the State of Mexico. Their efforts have established a precedent and now provide victims with access to tools to help them find justice.

The case of Octavio Ocaña’s death is a reminder of the importance of human rights and the need for justice for all victims, regardless of their social status or profession. We must continue to prioritize human rights and ensure justice is served for all those impacted by crimes and abuses of power.
