Nvidia’s Trillion Dollar Valuation: Riding the Waves of the Crypto and AI Boom

From crypto to AI boom: Nvidia is worth a trillion US dollars

Nvidia is positioning itself as “the AI Computing Company,” with artificial intelligence (AI) featuring prominently in its messaging. During Computex, the company’s press releases referenced AI over 200 times, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang mentioned it 49 times during his keynote speech. The emphasis on AI has helped drive up Nvidia’s stock price, making it the sixth most valuable company in the world.
While gaming used to be the primary focus of Computex for Nvidia, this year only one of its 13 announcements was related to gaming. The company’s new platform called ACE uses AI to improve the animation of game characters. Nvidia prioritizes server platforms and partnerships with tech giants Google, Microsoft, and Meta. Its GPU AI accelerators, such as the A100 and H100, are in high demand and are expected to raise sales by 38.4% by 2023.
Nvidia is also working on building a supercomputer called Israel-1, which will serve as a blueprint for the Spectrum-X reference platform. This supercomputer is expected to achieve an AI computing performance of 8 exaflops and combines Nvidia’s Spectrum-4 Ethernet switch with Bluefield-3 network processors and H100 GPUs.
According to market researcher Trendforce, Nvidia has a 60-70% market share in the AI server market. Nvidia’s AI accelerators, such as the H100 and H800, are also said to be selling for higher prices than their A100 and A800 counterparts. Nvidia’s strong focus on AI could lead to sales surpassing $11 billion in the current fiscal quarter, beating past records.
