Nintendo unveils Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Detective Pikachu Returns

Mario Makes a Comeback in Super Mario Bros. Wonder for Nintendo Switch

After a ten-year break, Mario is finally back in a classic 2D platformer game. Nintendo has announced that Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be released on October 20th for the Nintendo Switch. The game stays true to its name by introducing players to bizarre transformations as soon as they touch a magic flower. For example, warp tubes turn into crawling giant caterpillars, bulls can inflate themselves into rolling balls, and hordes of dinosaurs gallop into the picture.

Each level in the game has its own surprises that change the gameplay. Players might find themselves transformed into a spiked pinball or have the ability to expand Mario’s shadowy body to ten times its length. As in previous games in the New Super Mario Bros. series, Nintendo emphasizes the importance of four-player cooperation. The trailer shows chaotic moments reminiscent of the co-op gameplay in Rayman Legends.

Players can choose from a variety of characters, including Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, and Yoshi. One new feature in the game is the ability for Mario to transform into a massive elephant, which allows him to stomp through the world at a slow but furious pace.

In addition to Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Nintendo has also announced other exciting titles for the Nintendo Switch. Wario Ware: Move It! is a minigame collection that requires wild contortions and can be played by up to four players. It will be released on November 3rd. Princess Peach is also getting her own Switch title, but details about it have not been revealed yet. Another game called Detective Pikachu Returns follows the adventures of Tim Goodman and his Pokémon companion as they solve mysterious incidents in Ryme City. This game will be released on October 6th.

Nintendo has also confirmed the release of several new editions for the Switch. The Batman: Arkham trilogy, which includes three series parts and DLC, will be playable on the Switch starting in autumn 2023. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 1 will be available for the Switch on October 24th and includes multiple Metal Gear Solid games and bonus content.

Lastly, Nintendo is bringing back the first Super Mario RPG game, which was originally released in 1996 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The game will feature revised graphics and will be released on November 17th for the Nintendo Switch. Players can join Mario and his friends as they battle against Schmiedrich’s minions to find seven stars and repair the Star Road.

While there is still a long wait for the release of Luigi’s Mansion 2 on the Switch, fans can look forward to experiencing these new and revamped games on Nintendo’s popular hybrid console.
