Nice Supremacist Detained in Paris After Extradition from Bosnia

A Nice supremacist, Alexis Issaurat, was extradited Monday from Bosnia-Herzegovina to Paris, and was indicted in four separate cases and jailed the same day, the Paris prosecutor’s office said Tuesday. Issaurat, 36, had been sought by French authorities for a while and was detained on December 27 in Bosnia for possessing firearms, and was subsequently expelled from the country and barred from returning.

On Monday evening, he was charged in connection with four cases for which he had been wanted for arrest and placed in pretrial detention for two of them, according to the public prosecutor. The cases include alleged antisemitic remarks targeting M. Z due to his alleged involvement in the website “Balance ton antisémite,” as well as statements on Telegram calling for racial war leading to a complaint from the organization SOS Racisme. He is also accused of making threats against the former prosecutor of Nice, now the Attorney General of Nîmes, Xavier Bonhomme, and of making death threats against a TikTok user dating back to 2021. Issaurat has been charged with numerous offenses, including public justification of crimes against humanity, aggravated death threats, public provocation not followed by an intentional attempt on life, and aggravated public insult, among others.

According to the prosecutor’s office, Issaurat is suspected of targeting the prosecutor of Nice because he had initiated several procedures, including an investigation that led to an arrest warrant for Issaurat for participation in a criminal organization, arms possession, and incitement to hatred. He was reported to have posted videos on YouTube explaining his intention to commit a mass murder in France.

In 2022, he admitted to the AFP that he fought in Ukraine with the Azov Battalion, which has attracted many extreme right-wing militants, for seven to eight months in 2014-2015. He stated in 2022 that he is nationalist, identity-based, pro-White and European, and that he acted in solidarity with Ukrainian nationalists against Bolshevism to defend Europe and the West. Issaurat has previously been convicted multiple times in France for violence, possession, trafficking, and use of weapons.
