NFL’s Free Agency Beginning with a Bang as Quarterback Shuffling Occurs!

NFL: Quarterback crackers at the start of free agency! All changes

As the NFL free agency kicked off, there were some major shakeups in the quarterback position. The league saw some high-profile quarterbacks striking big deals and taking on new challenges.

The biggest of them all was Tom Brady – the longtime New England Patriots quarterback agreed to a two-year, $50 million contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This move shook the NFL world and gave the Buccaneers something to look forward to after years of mediocrity. Brady’s move to Tampa Bay could also mean that the Patriots will have to find a new leader of their offense.

Another quarterback who found a new home was Philip Rivers. Rivers joined the Indianapolis Colts on a one-year, $25 million contract after spending his entire career with the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers. The veteran quarterback could prove vital to the Colts’ playoff aspirations next season.

Teddy Bridgewater also found a new team after spending last season with the New Orleans Saints. The Carolina Panthers signed him on to be their starting quarterback on a three-year, $63 million deal. This move made Cam Newton, the long-time face of the Panthers, officially a free agent.

As expected, Drew Brees re-signed with the New Orleans Saints for two years and $50 million, solidifying his position as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Brees’ return to the Saints is good news for fans who were worried about the possibility of his retirement.

Other quarterback moves include Nick Foles joining the Chicago Bears and Ryan Tannehill signing a long-term deal with the Tennessee Titans. These moves mean that Mitchell Trubisky and Marcus Mariota, the starting quarterbacks for the Bears and Titans respectively, will have to fight for their positions.

Although free agency has only just begun, these quarterback moves have set the tone for the upcoming NFL season. Fans are eagerly waiting to see the new teams and players in action, and the changes in the quarterback position certainly make for an exciting start.
