New Year’s in Paris: Champs-Elysées Reserved for Pedestrians, with Parking Restrictions

On Sunday December 31st, 2023, for the New Year’s Eve 2024 and the traditional show on the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées will be reserved for pedestrians until midnight. But other nearby streets are also affected, with parking prohibitions. Here are the areas concerned.

No parking in several districts

A large security perimeter and car-free area has been delimited around the Champs-Élysées. The public is expected to come in large numbers to admire the fireworks from the Arc de Triomphe on Sunday December 31st at night. Traffic will be blocked several hours before the New Year’s Eve, before gradually resuming during the night.

From Saturday, December 30th, 2023, at 10 p.m., no vehicle will be able to use the avenue des Champs-Élysées, between the streets of Presbourg and Tilsitt, and the place Charles-de-Gaulle. It will also be prohibited on the section extending to the 16th and 17th arrondissements. The avenues of Wagram and Friedland, as well as rue Washington, will also be subject to a traffic ban from Sunday at 4 p.m., according to the police prefecture.

Vehicle parking will be prohibited from 10 a.m. in several streets of the 8th, 16th and 17th arrondissements, including the rue de Tilsitt, rue de Presbourg, place Charles-de-Gaulle, rue Vernet, avenue des Champs-Élysées (between place Charles-de-Gaulle and place de la Concorde), rue Arsène-Houssaye, rue Lord-Byron, rue Balzac, rue Washington, rue de Berri, rue La Boëtie, rue du Colisée, rue Jean-Mermoz, avenue Matignon, avenue Dutuit, avenue Winston-Churchill, avenue de Selves, avenue du Général-Eisenhower, avenue Franklin-D.-Roosevelt, place Clémenceau, avenue Charles-Girault, avenue Edward-Tuck, avenue Montaigne, rue de Marignan, rue Marbeuf, rue Pierre-Charron, rue Lincoln, rue Quentin-Bauchart, avenue George-V, rue de Bassano, rue Galilée, avenue Marceau, avenue d’Iéna, rue Dumont-d’Urville, rue La Pérouse and avenue Kléber.
