Mythical Houseboat for Sale in Paris for Less than 350,000 Euros

Adélaïde is the name of the famous and unique barge located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, on the banks of the Ourcq canal, and is now up for sale. This black, red, and green barge is said to be both mythical and atypical, according to Actu Paris. The barge has three bedrooms and a bathroom in its 155 square meters, as well as a 90 square meter theater that can accommodate 80 people and a 36 square meter terrace.

Managed by the Association for Research in Artistic Creation (Arca), the barge is described as a “resource center, a creation center, and a meeting place for itinerant artistic thinking and practice,” particularly attached to waterways. During the winter, the barge remains moored at 59 Quai de Seine, in order to offer local residents shows that they might not otherwise get to see. In the summer, it goes on tour.

Whether in rural areas or in disadvantaged neighborhoods, Adélaïde allows everyone to set the price of their own admission. The barge is equipped with everything needed for arts and cultural projects, such as two dressing rooms, a control room, and a fully-equipped kitchen. Priced at 315,000 euros, the sale of the barge is the only way to “continue the activity,” according to Arca, who has a wish: “The activity continues! Long live the theater.” In very good condition, the barge also has water and fuel tanks. So, for all the enthusiasts out there, this is your chance to own a piece of Parisian culture.
