Muriel Robin’s Gesture Causes the Curtain to Fall: Actor Pierre Arditi Suffers Onstage Malaise

Pierre Arditi, 78 years old, suffered a discomfort during a performance at the Édouard VII theater in Paris (9th arrondissement) on Wednesday evening, according to Le Parisien, confirming information from BFMTV. The actor is currently starring in “Lapin” alongside Muriel Robin. The curtain was lowered after the incident and the audience was evacuated.

“I was in the third row, I could see the actors well,” said Jérôme, who was present at the Édouard VII theater on Wednesday. “During the first fifteen minutes of the play, the two actors pretend not to understand why there is an audience, since they are supposed to be at home quietly having dinner. They address us, tell us what are you doing here, we want to have dinner quietly, leave,” he said.

Always playing a character surprised to have an audience in his home, Pierre Arditi then calls his director to alert him. “But then he started to stutter, we saw that he couldn’t speak anymore,” Jérôme reports. “Muriel Robin approached and saw that his eyes were blank and he wasn’t speaking anymore. She made a hand gesture for the curtain to be lowered.”

But once the curtain was lowered, a sense of incomprehension spread through the ranks of the Édouard VII theater. “We thought it was a happening, since the first fifteen minutes were about asking us what we were doing there,” Jérôme says. “And then, someone spoke over the loudspeakers in the theater and told us that the play wouldn’t resume.” The message was repeated several times before the entire audience stood up and began leaving the premises.

According to our information, Pierre Arditi regained consciousness after this incident. He was taken away in an ambulance headed to the hospital. Medical tests that will take place later in the evening will provide more information about his health condition.
