Microsoft Powertoys Update 0.70.1: Bug Fixes and Enhancements

Microsoft Powertoys 0.70.1 fixes numerous bugs

Microsoft has released Powertoys 0.70.1, which corrects numerous minor issues in the new version. The update can be searched for and downloaded within the Powertoys software itself. However, users should note that some of the corrections could require reworking.

In the changelog, developers warn users that Mouse Without Borders may be deactivated after the update and must be reactivated manually. Improvements have also been made to the settings pages for both Mouse Without Borders and the Preview feature, with crashes of both components now appearing correctly in error reports.

Powertoys’ preview shortcut will only appear when the active window is the desktop, explorer, or preview. The update also includes an option to prevent the preview from running with elevated privileges to be used correctly on network shares. Preview windows can now be closed by pressing the escape key.

The preview can now display more Visual Studio files, and flickering when loading code files has also been fixed. The function will now no longer remove the service during an upgrade, helping users avoid reactivation. There are also further corrections concerning the display on high-resolution monitors.

Additionally, users can now specify host names and IP connections in Mouse Without Borders settings, enabling use with VPN. Thumbnail displays will no longer appear when switching to another machine, and other machines will no longer remain active when Mouse Without Borders is in use.

Interested parties can download the installation files and run the update with them. Powertoys 0.70.1 is available for download on a per-user or system-wide installation for both x64 and ARM64. Microsoft Powertoys’ big innovation was Mouse Without Borders, the feature that allows users to control multiple PCs with one keyboard and mouse.
