Melsungen Secures Handball Prodigy Erik Balenciaga, Smaller than Messi

Erik Balenciaga is smaller than Messi: Melsungen gets handball dwarf

Handball Finds a New Gem in Erik Balenciaga

Imagine Lionel Messi, Philipp Lahm, or Thomas Häßler playing handball. It’s difficult, isn’t it? The same goes for Erik Balenciaga, a rising talent in the sport. Erik, who hails from the French first division club Toulouse HB, recently signed a deal with North Hesse until 2025.

At first glance, Erik’s modest frame-1.69 meters tall and weighing around 70 kilograms-does not scream backcourt spectacle. But, considering his skill, lightning speed, and agility, Erik’s build makes him difficult to defend and easily maneuverable. He is reminiscent of the former Swedish star Ljubomir Vranjes, who, despite being only 1.66 meters tall, puzzled opposing defenses.

Melsungen Sports Director Michael Allendorf believes that Erik has the potential to become a significant asset to the team, stating: “I’ve had him watched for quite a while and was able to convince myself of his abilities. Erik is intelligent when it comes to the game, has absolutely understood handball, and is a real team player. His philosophy is that one should not go it alone but work hard for their teammates.”

Allendorf makes it clear that Erik may not throw at 130 km/h, but fans can expect brilliant passes from him. “Whether in the backcourt or in the circle, he wants to always put his teammates in promising positions and play the deadly pass. We need a guy like him to make our game not only more effective but also more attractive. We just have to play a different kind of handball in the future,” he said.

Melsungen’s defeat against Kiel on Sunday demonstrated the team’s need for fresh talent like Erik. The team is still waiting for their first point this season, and their hopes are now pinned on Erik Balenciaga’s magic touch for the upcoming season.
