Mbappé in Paris, Henry shakes things up

As a holder of a Master’s degree in international law, I realized at the end of my academic journey that it was important to work in a field that one enjoys. Overnight, I decided to put an end to my parents’ dream of me becoming a lawyer, to pursue my passion: sports. Since then, I have been covering transfer windows and sports news, trying to inform readers as best as I can.

The dream of Kylian Mbappé is fading. Real Madrid has informed the French Football Federation that they will not release their French players for the Olympic tournament. In charge of the French Olympic team, Thierry Henry seems to have not said his last word. The coach plans to have a discussion with the Spanish club to try to find a solution.

Real Madrid is not willing to make any concessions for Kylian Mbappé. The Spanish club has no intention of allowing the player to participate in the upcoming Paris Olympics, especially after the Euro in Germany. As reported by L’Equipe, Real Madrid sent an email to the French Federation to formalize their stance. Not a surprise for Thierry Henry, the coach of the French Olympic team.

Henry reacts to Real Madrid’s email

“It has always been the case. I knew it would be difficult. I had an idea. It’s completely normal, especially for clubs abroad. It’s the Olympics here, in France, I think French clubs will be there to help. But for foreign clubs, I suspected it. I never stop at the first no. We’ll see what we can do, the decision will remain with the clubs, since these are not FIFA dates. We will try to negotiate, but it’s not easy,” said Thierry Henry during a press conference.

“We will try to talk”

Henry intends to propose a meeting with Real Madrid in the hope of reaching a compromise. “We will try to talk, see what we can do. There are many factors to consider. We have to explore all options. We will see if we can be received. It’s difficult to prepare because we have no certainties. Yes, there are many names we would like to have. But we don’t know when the yes will come. And if the player changes clubs… It’s not easy, but we knew that,” stated the French coach.
