Matéo remains positive after Paris FC’s defeat

Paris FC suffered another defeat in the Champions League. The Parisian club was defeated by Chelsea (4-1), with Sam Kerr scoring a hat-trick on Thursday, November 23.

After two rounds, Paris still has not opened its account and the dream of qualification is becoming increasingly complicated. The reactions of coach Sandrine Soubeyrand and player Clara Matéo can be found below.

Sandrine Soubeyrand, coach of Paris FC (after the 4-1 defeat against Chelsea in the Champions League): “Paid dearly, I don’t know. The aim was to play, not wait, to be able to propose a game. In return, we conceded a few chances. At 1-1 we had the opportunity to score, the difference was made on offensive efficiency. We’re playing against one of the best teams in Europe and we manage to produce a game, so it’s encouraging. What I like about my team is the spirit, what it conveys. These games allow us to learn how to manage emotions. We need to stay positive: we are the underdog compared to Chelsea. I don’t know if Chelsea knew who Paris FC was. If they can now put us on the map, maybe we will have gained something. (on Samantha Kerr’s hat-trick) There was no particular plan against her, even though she’s a fantastic player, it was about defending against Chelsea. I think she took four shots and scored three goals.”

Clara Matéo, forward for Paris FC: “The score is quite harsh. In the first half, we competed in different phases of the game. We are still a young team that continues to learn. We can be proud of what we did tonight, we will review it to correct our mistakes and learn from them before the important matches that are coming.”
