Marta Sierra is a violinist from Barcelona, Spain, who has made a name for herself with her “Hot Club Swing Jazz sound.” Whether in a duo, trio, or quartet, she interprets American jazz standards with a continental twist, the most popular music from 1930s and 1940s Paris and Europe, as well as gypsy jazz tunes and French chanson repertoire standards. The project that Marta is presenting today with pianist Jérôme Vinson consists of a selection of songs from her two albums, among others. Her first album, “Paris Connection,” was released in 2022, and her second album, “C-Jam Blues,” recorded with renowned gypsy jazz guitarist Yorgui Loeffler, came out in 2023.
Marta Sierra draws inspiration from the language and artistry of many violinists she admires, notably the greatest jazz violinist of the 20th century, Stéphane Grappelli, who, along with legendary guitarist Django Reinhardt, was the driving force behind the influential Quintette du Hot Club de France.
