The possibility of a Parisian redemption for Alphonse Areola is a possibility, according to Nicolas Dehon, his former goalkeeping coach at PSG.
Areola now has, at last, an indisputable place as the starting goalkeeper. Having spent several years as a loanee and sharing the Parisian goalkeeping duties with Gianluigi Buffon, the 2018 World Cup champion has gone from serving as backup last season to becoming the number one goalkeeper at West Ham since the start of the season.
According to Dehon, Areola always dreamed of establishing himself in Paris, and it seems that his recent performances, including 8 saves in a match against Arsenal, have not gone unnoticed.
The goalkeeping coach continued by stating that Areola’s clear position as the number one at West Ham this season is the reason for his current performances. This newfound stability and belief in him have allowed Areola to thrive and reach new heights in his career.
