Macron offers his condolences to the victim’s family and calls for justice to be served

Emmanuel Macron has reacted to the knife attack that left at least one dead and two injured on Saturday night in Paris.

After the attack that cost the life of a German tourist in Paris, Emmanuel Macron offered his “condolences to the family and friends of the German national who died tonight”.

In a post on X, he said he is “thinking with emotion of the people currently injured and being taken care of” and thanked the “emergency services that allowed for the swift apprehension of a suspect”.

“The national anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office is now involved and will be responsible for shedding light on this matter so that justice can be served on behalf of the French people,” added the head of state.

“We will not give in to terrorism”

Earlier in the evening, Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne had sent her “thoughts” “to the victim, the injured and their loved ones”.

“We will not give in to terrorism. Never,” she said on the same social network.
