Influencer arrested for apologizing terrorism to be tried in immediate appearance

A young woman has been arrested and placed in police custody for “apology of terrorism using an online public communication service”. She will be tried in immediate appearance on Friday, November 10th at the judicial court of Paris.

The arrest is related to a video posted on Instagram in which the young woman made ironic comments about the crimes committed by Hamas during its attack in Israel, in reaction to rumors – unconfirmed at this stage – about a baby being placed in an oven.

In the video, a young person can also be heard off-camera talking about a “baby leg of lamb” with “fries” and “ketchup”. After the Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7th, information about an Israeli baby being placed in an oven, initially reported by an Israeli rescuer, has been the subject of numerous conflicting claims. No official source has confirmed these facts.

The Israeli embassy in France had strongly condemned “the vile negationist and anti-Semitic remarks” made by the influencer.

This situation serves as a reminder of the importance of fact-checking information before making public statements, especially on sensitive and contentious issues related to terrorism and conflict. Influencers and social media users should exercise caution and consider the potential impact of their words on international relations and diplomatic efforts to promote peace and understanding in volatile regions.
