Heise DevSec: Analyzing the Impact of AI on Security

heise devSec: Opening keynote addresses the effects of AI on security

heise devSec is set to take place in Karlsruhe on September 12th and 13th. The conference, now in its seventh edition, focuses on secure software development and is organized by iX, heise Security, and dpunkt.verlag. This year, the conference’s motto is “Secure software begins before the first line of code.” The event is primarily aimed at software developers, architects, project managers, team leaders, security officers, and quality officers.

The conference will feature two keynotes. The first keynote, titled “Generative Software Development? Of course!”, will be delivered by David Fuhr. Fuhr will explore the relationship between security and artificial intelligence (AI) and discuss how generative AI is transforming secure software development. He will also address the potential threats, risks, and attack vectors associated with AI and discuss countermeasures. Additionally, Fuhr will explore the impact of AI on job security and value.

The second keynote will be given by Firefox Tech Lead Christian Holler. Holler will share his experiences with fuzzing, a testing technique used to test the components of the Firefox browser. He will discuss the long history of fuzz testing at Mozilla and present some experimental technologies that the team is currently integrating into Firefox.

The conference will feature 30 regular lectures covering a range of topics, including secure web applications, software supply chain security, multi-factor authentication, scaling security in Kubernetes, extending the Secure Development Lifecycle with Privacy by Design, and the role of mathematics in taking over a bank.

Early bird tickets for the conference are available until July 31st for 999 euros (plus 19% VAT). The conference will also include workshops on OAuth 2.1 and OpenID Connect for developers, adopting, maintaining, and securing legacy software, and leveraging APIOps for design, implementation, and security. Workshop tickets can be purchased separately for 599 euros. Combination tickets for the conference and workshops are also available at a discounted price.
