From Lot to Paris: A New Armchair for Senator Vayssouze and Two Seats to Fill in Cahors and Grand Cahors

Jean-Marc Vayssouze has joined the Senate on October 2nd. As the newly elected representative of the rue de Vaugirard in Paris, he shares his thoughts on his debut and his hopes for the city and Grand Cahors.

When asked how his installation in Paris is going, Vayssouze explains that he left for Paris the day after the elections and is gradually settling in. He mentions his organization, which allows him to be in his constituency in Lot on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, and in Paris on the remaining days.

Vayssouze emphasizes the pluralism and lack of political divisions in the Senate, unlike the National Assembly. He mentions that they recently worked on a law regarding the security of local elected officials and the protection of mayors, which was unanimously voted on.

Regarding his transition from the position of mayor of Cahors, Vayssouze states that he resigned a few days ago and that a new mayor will be elected in the upcoming council meeting. He expresses his support for his first deputy, Jean-Luc Marx, and highlights their shared vision for the territory and the projects they have built together. He also mentions his intention to remain president of the Grand Cahors for now, emphasizing the importance of cohesion and finding a place for everyone in the community.

In terms of his role in the Senate, Vayssouze explains that he has obtained a position in the Foreign Affairs Commission, which deals with geopolitics, defense, and foreign policy. He expresses his passion for defending democracy, which he believes is in danger worldwide, and sees this commission as an opportunity to address these interests.

When asked about his travel between Cahors and Paris, Vayssouze mentions his preference for taking the train to reduce his carbon footprint. However, due to the long travel time of 5 hours and 45 minutes, he also anticipates having to take flights from Brive or Blagnac to fulfill his commitments on time.
