Eunice Barber, a double world champion in athletics, was slightly injured in the face on Monday night after an altercation with another passenger on a commuter train in the Paris area, according to police sources.

Shortly before 11 pm, the former athlete boarded a Transilien train in Franconville (Val-d’Oise) headed towards the Gare du Nord in Paris. Eunice Barber, 49, asked a “drunk traveler” to speak more quietly on the phone and received “two blows to the face” in response, causing a minor injury to her “right cheekbone,” according to police sources. She filed a complaint at the police station.
