Football: Heavy Suspension for Italian International Accused of Illicit Sports Betting

Italian international Nicolo Fagioli, who plays for Juventus Turin, has been handed a heavy suspension in the illegal sports betting case that has shaken Italian football.

This is a setback in his young career. Involved in the illegal sports betting case that has rocked Italian football for several days, Nicolo Fagioli (22 years old) has been suspended for seven months by the Italian Football Federation. The Juventus Turin player has also been fined €12,500 and will have to undergo treatment for his gambling addiction for at least six months.

This punishment is a lesser evil for the midfielder. The Italian international (1 cap), who allegedly spent over one million euros on various platforms, faced up to three years of suspension and a €25,000 fine, but his sentence was reduced thanks to his cooperation with the authorities.

And he is not the only one who should be sanctioned in this case. Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Zaniolo, who were with the Italian national team, have also been questioned by the authorities. The two players are expected to be informed of their punishment soon.
