Fire in Paris 18th District Leaves Six Injured, Three in Critical Condition

A fire broke out on Monday on rue Pierre Picard, near Barbès, in the 18th arrondissement. Six people were injured, three of them seriously. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

It was around 1pm on Monday, January 1st, when a call was made to the 18th arrondissement to report a fire on rue Pierre Picard, between Montmartre and Barbès. According to the Paris Fire Brigade, the fire broke out on the fifth floor of a seven-story building and did not spread to other floors. Six people were injured in the incident, three of them seriously.

The three critically injured were evacuated to hospitals, while the other three were treated at the scene. A total of 90 firefighters and around thirty vehicles were mobilized for the intervention. The fire was contained in the mid-afternoon. Its origin is unknown, and an investigation has been opened by the Paris prosecutor’s office.
