External Relay with Certificate Coming Soon: Deye Comments

Deye comments: External relay will be available soon and with certificate

After it was revealed that Deye microinverters were missing a relay mentioned in the test certificate, there were various reactions from industry stakeholders. The Federal Network Agency (BNetzA), the VDE, and the dealers who sold the devices in Europe all commented on the situation. Now, the manufacturer, Deye, has provided further information about the case and outlined their planned steps moving forward.

A spokesperson from Deye stated that customers should follow the Federal Network Agency’s recommendation to disconnect the devices from the network. However, they also emphasized that there have been no reported cases of personal injury or property damage caused by the missing relay.

The company has shared their proposed solution to the problem. They intend to provide an external box with full NA (network analysis) protection, including a relay, to all customers free of charge. However, doubts were raised last week regarding whether this solution would be sufficient for re-certifying the inverters according to VDE-AR-N 4105. The VDE and BNetzA initially expressed skepticism.

Deye has now assured that they are in discussions with the certification bodies TÜV and Intertek. These organizations have stated that they can provide a suitable certificate in the near future. The manufacturer has also held talks with the VDE to address any misunderstandings.

For users of Deye inverters in balcony power plants, it means that they will need to wait patiently until the certification process is completed and the NA protection boxes are delivered. These boxes will be plugged in between the inverter and the mains connection cable, with installation requiring only two plug connections.
