Star Wars: Three new movies announced

Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 recently made some big announcements that have left fans excited. The event revealed three new films and five series that are coming soon. James Mangold, Dave Filoni, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will be directing the new Star Wars films. Meanwhile, Lucasfilm has also fixed the order of appearance for the five new series exclusively on Disney+.

The upcoming Star Wars films will take place across different timelines in the Star Wars universe. James Mangold’s project will delve into the origins of the Jedi in the ancient past. On the other hand, Dave Filoni’s film will be set in the more recent Star Wars past, linking the storylines of the new republic and the Disney+ series. Finally, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s upcoming film will follow on from the Skywalker saga and is set 15 years after “Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker.”

As for the new series, Ahsoka will be the first of the five series to launch in August 2022. The series will lead us through Ahsoka’s investigations into the reappearance of Admiral Thrawn. Skeleton Crew is also set to be released this year, aimed at a younger audience. Meanwhile, Andor and The Acolyte are the upcoming series set to launch in 2024. The Acolyte, a Frozen-Kill Bill mix, is slated to wrap up in May and could be released ahead of Andor in August.
