To find out about their quality, we tested five smartphones priced around 200 euros: Motorola Moto G13, Nokia G21, Realme 9, Samsung Galaxy A13, and Xiaomi Redmi Note 11.
Although these inexpensive devices come with large camera modules on their backs, they have different numbers of camera modules and priorities in comparison to high-end devices. The main camera is complemented by at least one module for macro photography. Among the models we tested, Realme 9, Samsung A13, and Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 also have an ultra-wide-angle camera.
However, unlike the expensive models, they lack camera modules with longer focal lengths. Additionally, the smartphones have different camera apps, which also affect their performance.
The image quality of the main camera is arguably the most important aspect to consider. All smartphones in the test field have high resolutions for their main cameras, but they don’t always perform as good as their high-end counterparts. The Samsung A13 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 have relatively weak main cameras, and the resulting photos have less detail than those taken with the other devices.
Still, the smartphones’ other features, including portrait, bokeh, and macro modes, are impressive. They work well for capturing night-time magic, glamorous photos in low light, and breathtaking selfies.
Overall, the test results showed that you don’t always have to buy expensive smartphones to get good quality images. The smartphones in the 200-euro class offer several cameras and other features that enable users to take great photos without breaking the bank.
