Estelle Mossely: “Being the flag bearer would make my Games even more beautiful”

The gold medal is not the only goal for Estelle Mossely for Paris 2024. The boxer also wants to lead all French athletes by being the flag bearer at her last Games.

The 31-year-old Frenchwoman was crowned Olympic boxing champion in Rio in 2016.

Olympic champion in 2016, and in 2024? At 31, Estelle Mossely certainly does not hide her ambitions. Invited to Stade 2 on Sunday, March 24, the gold medalist boxer from Rio justified her return to amateur boxing to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics. “What I experienced as a pro was very different from what I experienced in Olympic boxing,” explained Estelle Mossely. “I had the desire, and my body followed suit…”

Estelle Mossely: “It would be a shame to miss the opportunity to compete at home.”

Eight years after winning her first Olympic gold medal in Rio, boxer Estelle Mossely has only one desire: to win a second one, but this time, in her own country at Paris 2024.

The IBO world champion in the under 60 kg category (since 2019) also has another idea in mind: to be the flag bearer for the French team. And she stands by it: “It’s something I want. It would make these Games even more beautiful. These will be my last Games. I want to make the most of everything, enjoy all the moments. Being the flag bearer is being the leader of the team.”
