Disney’s popular animated film, “Moana,” is set to return to the big screen in live-action format, much to the delight of fans worldwide.

In a video posted on Instagram, The Rock, aka Dwayne Johnson, announced the exciting news from a picturesque beach in Hawaii. The popular Disney film will be brought to life with real characters, much like other classics such as “Beauty and the BeHonored to Share Culture

As a Polynesian actor, Johnson is thrilled to share the story of Maui’s character and Hawaiian culture. In the video, The Rock explains the story of “Moana” is emblematic of the grace, mana, and warrior strength of their people.

“I proudly wear our culture on my skin and soul, and this unique opportunity to reunite with MAUI, inspired by the spirit of my late grandfather, Grand Chief Peter Maivia, is significant,” he said.

Music and Dance

Partnering with Disney Studios, Johnson and his fellow Polynesian actors look forward to telling their story through dance and song, which are central to their culture.
