The Olympic village in Paris is ready, just a few months before the Paris Olympic Games. It will house the Olympic delegations of the countries participating in the competition.
Just a few months before the 2024 Paris Olympics, the construction of the Olympic village has been completed on time. The construction was finished in six years, compared to the usual 15 for such extensive works. Furnishing the apartments is also a colossal task, as 14,250 beds and 5,500 sofas need to be found. The accommodations already have water and electricity, but they are still empty.
A model apartment, designed for eight occupants, has two bathrooms and four bedrooms, with astonishing cardboard bed frames. Due to the risk of heatwaves, no air conditioning is planned, but a fan and a cooling floor thanks to geothermal energy are provided.
In the coming months, a gym will be installed in a refurbished former power plant, as well as shops and services. An alcohol-free bar, a mini-market, laundromats, but also a nursery will be in the Olympic village. In total, 6,000 residents and 6,000 employees are expected in this future neighborhood.
