Discover the Dynamically Upright Mercedes GLC Coupé

Presentation of the Mercedes GLC Coupé: dynamically upright

Mercedes has introduced the second generation of its GLC Coupé. SUV coupés, which combine off-road capabilities with a lowered roofline for a sportier look, are among the most unusual ideas in the automobile industry. The new GLC Coupé’s design is largely similar to that of the C-Class and the SUV GLC. The space inside is nearly identical to that of the GLC SUV; however, the coupé versions have less rear headroom and a smaller trunk. There is a wide range of motors to choose from, and all-wheel drive and automatic are also standard.

The electric motor in petrol and diesel versions only plays a supporting role in the form of a mild hybrid. In plug-in hybrids, the motor has an output of 100 kW, which is enough for moderate electric driving, despite the vehicle’s weight of over 2.2 tons. The battery has a gross capacity of 31.2 kWh, which is among the largest in PHEVs, and it should lead to ranges of up to 131 km, according to the WLTP.

The GLC Coupé comes with a standard three-phase charger that enables up to 11 kW charging power and the option of a 60 kW DC charger. Mercedes is introducing a package policy, meaning extras can no longer be purchased individually. This policy simplifies logistics and increases margins for the manufacturer.

The GLC Coupé is expected to come with a surcharge on top of the GLC SUV’s price, which currently starts at €57,632. The base model is expected to remain below €60,000, while the top model, the GLC 400e, will cost around €76,000. AMG offshoots, which will be introduced later this year, are expected to exceed €100,000 with certain equipment.
