The National Team Aiming for Redemption
The German national team is determined to win back the support of their fans following a disastrous World Cup performance. They plan to start this process with two friendly matches against Peru in Mainz on Saturday and Belgium in Cologne next Tuesday.
A Hit Planned for 2023
The team also has big plans for 2023, and according to BILD, they have a timetable in place. The German team aims to play more attractive matches ahead of the European Championships, which they have already automatically qualified for as hosts.
Germany vs. Mbappé
A major highlight game being planned is a match against France, who are the current vice-world champions. The game will be played in Dortmund’s Signal-Iduna-Park and will involve competing against superstar Kylian Mbappé. The game is to take place in September, and preparations are currently underway to make it happen.
Sweden’s Ibra Makes a Comeback
Apart from the international matches planned in June, which include a benefit game against Ukraine in Bremen and games in Poland and Frankfurt, there will also be events in Wolfsburg and Dortmund in September. The September events will include a sell-out match and a game in Wolfsburg, where one of the sponsors of the German Football Association (DFB), Volkswagen is located. The team will also travel to the US in October for a taste of what is to come in the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
