Darmanin announced this on Tuesday, January 30th, the amount of the bonus during the games for law enforcement.

Paris Olympics – Exceptional bonus for exceptional services. Officers and gendarmes working in Île-de-France, as well as in French Polynesia, will receive up to 1,900 euros in compensation for their mobilization during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, announced the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, on Tuesday, January 30th.

“This bonus will be paid at several levels depending on each individual’s situation,” writes the Minister of the Interior in a letter addressed to all ministry officials and shared on his X account.

Indemnities and payment of overtime hours
Darmanin confirmed in his letter the “100% mobilization” of agents from 26 July to 11 August and the possibility for each agent to take ten working days off between 15 June and 15 September. Thus, all agents who “will have actually limited their leave periods” during the event will receive a minimum bonus of 1,000 euros.

The bonus is raised to 1,600 euros for police officers working in a department hosting an Olympic event, including French Polynesia where the surfing event will take place, as well as CRS and personnel “permanently deployed as reinforcements”.

The maximum bonus of 1,900 euros will be paid to staff engaged in Île-de-France and the Paris police headquarters, as well as to border police agents mobilized in “Paris airports and international transport”. Gendarmes will receive the same amounts.

This bonus was initially between 500 and 1,500 euros. Police unions had mobilized to obtain 2,000 euros for all agents.

In addition to this bonus, an allowance of 50 euros per night will be paid to all police officers deployed for at least five days on security or JO-2024 related missions. The Minister also undertakes to pay 100% of overtime hours, via a specific counter, which will be “uncapped and tax-free.”

The unions also called for social support measures, particularly childcare. The State will thus finance the “doubling of the universal service employment voucher,” announces Gérald Darmanin, up to 350 euros per child for single mothers or fathers.
