Combatting Microplastics with Ultrasonic Technology: The Latest Trend Online

With ultrasound against microplastics | hot online

Researchers at the University of Mexico have developed an ultrasonic system to remove microplastics from river and sea water. Using sound waves to concentrate the plastic particles, the technique has been found to remove between 70% and 80% of particles. Microplastics are found in tens of millions of tons in oceans and rivers globally, and can have harmful effects on health and ecosystems. Unlike filters that clog over time, the ultrasonic method requires minimal maintenance. Meanwhile, nonprofit firm Wasser 3.0 is using a hybrid silica gel that can remove up to 95% of microplastic particles.
