City Promises Heavy Fine After Wild Krispy Kreme Advertising Campaign

The wild advertising campaign does not sit well with the deputy mayor of Paris. Emmanuel Grégoire says the company will receive “a hefty fine”.

“Prepare for a hefty fine”. The American donut chain Krispy Kreme will soon open its first French location in Paris.

“Resign macarons!”, “the best croissant in Paris”, “It would have been more logical to open in Trouville”… The arrival of the chain in the capital was accompanied by a noticeable wild advertising campaign.

“A hefty cleaning bill”.

This has been condemned by city officials. Emmanuel Grégoire, deputy mayor of Paris, warns the American chain to “brace for a hefty fine”.

The same reaction came from Antoine Guillou, deputy mayor of Paris, responsible for all questions concerning the cleanliness of public space, who ensures that the chain will receive “a hefty cleaning bill”.

“You will especially receive a hefty cleaning bill, bravo! And on January 1st, the state will transfer to us the authority to fine you 1,500 euros per ad, let’s see who will change their ways,” he wrote on his X account, formerly Twitter.

Lamia El Aaraje, deputy mayor of Paris in charge of universal accessibility and people with disabilities, asks the chain to keep its “garbage” to itself.

The American donut chain Krispy Kreme will open its first French location in Paris in late November and aims to open several dozen more stores by 2024, mainly in the Île-de-France region. This first French establishment, intended to supply other locations in the future, will be located in the Forum des Halles shopping center in the center of Paris.
