Bordeaux was not equipped to face Paris FC

Bordeaux had not given in to Paris FC’s field since October 2018 (5-0). At that time, the Francilian club was still called Juvisy. For a long time, the teams worked in the same sphere. Times have changed. Paris FC has become a Champions League club and the only almost credible runner-up to Lyon, along with PSG.

Seven victories, after the one on Sunday evening, in nine matches at the start of this season, the numbers speak for themselves. The Bordeaux team has only taken two points in eight matches, but clings on with commendable determination.

Although largely dominated (19 shots to 2), Bordeaux resisted for a long time, first by being well placed and without suffering too much, then relying on a bit of luck. Paris FC finally found the opening with Mateo scoring after being launched deep and adjusting Mendiburu (41st minute).

At the worst possible time for the courageous Girondines, they did not have the slightest opportunity to sink their teeth into the game. To endure, defend, reposition, three imperatives respected. But possession was too limited for any construction to emerge.

After the break, Paris FC made some changes, Bordeaux suffered a little less, played higher, but did not find solutions in using the ball. The second half ended with Ateluce getting injured (ankle). A tough night.

Bordeaux tried to make a comeback, but lacked presence in the opposing penalty area despite an improvement in play. Tarrieu had the only shot of the match, but it was not enough to avoid the inevitable. The second half showed promise but was not impactful enough. And it ended with the injury of Ateluce. A tough night.
