BMW X1 xDrive30e: Testing the Powerful Plug-In Hybrid

BMW X1 xDrive30e in the test: plug-in hybrid with plenty of power

The BMW X1 xDrive30e plug-in hybrid has undergone testing, with a focus on its power and performance. BMW offers a range of options for its models, including petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid, and electric cars. However, customers may face longer waiting times for electric vehicles.

In terms of efficiency, BMW has faced criticism in the past for its slow-charging plug-in hybrids. The BMW 320e, for example, had a consumption rate of over 30 kWh/100 km, which required hours of charging for a range of just 40 km. Despite the removal of purchase support, the reduced tax rate for private use of a PHEV company car still makes these models attractive.

To address the shortcomings, BMW has made improvements to the new X1 xDrive30e. It charges twice as fast as its predecessor, has a higher energy content in the battery, and offers lower consumption. In addition, the drive power has been increased. During testing, the power consumption was significantly lower than that of the BMW 320e, with positive results due to higher temperatures.

To fully charge the X1 xDrive30e, it required 15.5 to 15.9 kWh at an 11 kW wall box or a public charging station. When using the charging brick, an extra 1.5 to 2 kWh was needed per charge. These improvements make the BMW X1 xDrive30e a more attractive option for buyers.
