Former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal caused concern among fans on Monday when he shared a picture of himself lying in a hospital bed with an IV attached to his arm. The 51-year-old tweeted the photo along with a cryptic message. “I’m always watching,” he wrote, addressing it to basketball reporter Ernie Johnson and WNBA pro Candace Parker.
Former NBA players, Steve Smith and Roy Hibbert, were among those who expressed concern over Shaq’s condition. “Are you alright, big man?” Hibbert asked. “Get well soon, Big Fella,” Smith added.
Despite the outpouring of concern from fans, Shaq has not made any public comment about the picture since it was posted. It remains unclear what caused the former Lakers and Miami Heat player’s hospitalization.
Shaq is widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players in NBA history. Over his 19-year career, he won the championship four times, was named Finals MVP three times and was nominated for the NBA All-Stars match 15 times.
