AVM: FritzOS 7.50 is available for the Fritzbox 7590 AX

AVM releases FritzOS 7.50 for its ninth wireless router, the Fritzbox 7590 AX. The update is also available for various routers and repeaters including DSL: Fritzbox 7590 AX, 7590, 7583, 7583 VDSL, 7530, 7520, 7510, Kabel: Fritzbox 6690 Cable, 6591 Cable, and Repeater: Fritz-Repeater 3000, 2400, 1200. Users can initiate the update via the router’s web interface or download the image for manual installation.

FritzOS 7.50 is an extensive update, bringing more than 150 innovations. The update introduces Wireguard VPN as a faster alternative to IPsec, which is useful for accessing the company network in a home office. Additionally, the Fritz boxes learn new functions when managing the smart home, including if/then rules, templates, scenarios, and routines for more flexible automation.

Improvements under the hood include automatic prioritization in internal and guest networks, and the introduction of Zero Wait Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS). Routers with FritzOS 7.50 automatically switch to 5 GHz channels 36 to 48 when radar pulses are detected, and search for radar-free frequencies in less busy channels. This way, devices save themselves from switching to the 2.4 GHz band and the associated WLAN interruption.

In conclusion, FritzOS 7.50 is an extensive update that brings innovative features and improvements to Fritz boxes. As always, users can initiate the update through the router’s web interface or download the image for manual installation. With Wireguard VPN, flexible automation, and automatic prioritization, FritzOS 7.50 offers a more comprehensive experience for home and office networking.
