Anger of farmers live: farmers tighten the grip on Paris, a snail operation planned in the East-Var

The advancing farmers towards the capital is evident as armored vehicles of the gendarmerie were deployed on Tuesday evening on the A6 a few kilometers from Rungis, near Chilly-Mazarin (Essonne), where tractors from the FDSEA of Seine-et-Marne are positioned, without incident, according to the police. Even though the situation has somewhat tense in certain roadblocks in Ile-de-France.

The farmers also continue their progression towards Lyon, with the aim of blockading the second largest city in France. Tractors blocked the A89, which connects Lyon to Clermont-Ferrand, in the late afternoon.

Prime Minister Gabriel Attal assured on Tuesday that there should be “a French agricultural exception” and promised that the government would be “there, without any ambiguity” to respond to the current agricultural crisis, in his speech of general policy before the National Assembly.

Despite these statements, accompanied by some new measures, the mobilization shows no sign of weakening: on Tuesday, the intelligence services recorded nearly 120 blockages, with 12,000 mobilized farmers, over 6,000 tractors, at the national level, even if Brussels outlined some concessions, especially on the question of fallow land.

After the success of their mobilization on January 25 in the West Var, the farmers plan a new go-slow operation in the East Var, this Wednesday, January 31.
