Aldi Talk Introduces Reorganized Prepaid Tariffs with 5G

Aldi Talk: Prepaid tariffs are being reorganized with 5G

The discount supermarket Aldi has announced changes to its prepaid tariff portfolio, with its popular Aldi Talk combination packages now able to access the 5G network in O2’s 5G network. Additionally, all three tariff options will receive extra inclusive data volume. The new tariffs will be available from July 11th.

Under the new plans, Aldi Talk’s combination package S will offer 6 GB of data volume for €9 every four weeks, up from the previous 4 GB for €8. The M package will now provide 12 GB for €15, compared to the previous 8 GB for €13. The largest L tariff will cost €20 for 20 GB every four weeks, up from the previous 16 GB for €18.

The combination packages also include a flat rate for telephony and SMS, and compatible mobile phones will experience faster surfing speeds of up to 50 MBit/s, as opposed to the previous 25 MBit/s.

Customers who wish to sign up for an Aldi Talk tariff will need a starter set, available for €10, which includes a starting credit of the same amount.

It is unclear whether Aldi will extend the 5G access to its sporadically offered annual tariffs. The annual packages provide the full data volume for 12 months, offering greater flexibility compared to the four-week tariffs. However, they also come with longer binding periods. The XS package previously cost €60 and provided 15 GB of LTE data for 365 days, while the S package, available for €100, offered 60 GB of LTE data for the same time period. The L package, priced at €150, included 120 GB of data volume in the LTE network. The price-performance ratio of the annual packages was previously favorable compared to the four-week tariffs, but this may change with the introduction of the increased combination packages.
