A New Caledonian in Charge of Security for 2024 Paris Olympics Competition Sites

Quincy Manuopuava is actively preparing for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Not as an athlete, but as the project manager for the security of the competition sites. A meeting with Calédonian Quincy Manuopuava.

With just eight months to go until the Olympic Games in Paris, Quincy Manuopuava is in full preparation. The biggest sporting event of the year will take place in the French capital from July 26 to August 11, 2024.

For both athletes and staff, the time for preparations is now. Quincy Manuopuava is the chief of security for the competition sites in the Paris Centre cluster. He was selected from among many candidates. “The profiles are very diverse. We have experts in safety, fire experts, former military personnel, former firefighters, and leaders of NGOs,” says Quincy Manuopuava.

“I don’t have thirty or forty years of experience, but I was hired because I have a range of skills in security, safety, and defense. This is a specialty that I have acquired while working for the city of Toulouse as a project manager for events,” explains the Calédonian.

He has been recruited by Paris 2024 and will ensure that security is maintained at the competition sites in the capital. And he is not the only Calédonian working behind the scenes on the organization of the Games. “A week ago, I found out that a woman from New Caledonia was working on one of my sites. It’s very pleasing,” reveals Quincy Manuopuava.

Meanwhile, he is working on the competition sites of Paris Center. “I will be where the judo, beach volleyball, wrestling, 3×3 basketball, skateboarding, and breakdancing will take place. In terms of experience, it’s a great opportunity and a source of pride to be a New Caledonian and to speak as an equal with international colleagues.”

The Calédonian is back on the territory for the holidays, taking time to recharge before the major event of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
