An investigation has been opened for “armed robbery” and entrusted to the judicial police. The suspects are currently on the run.
Early Sunday morning, a family was burglarized and held captive in their own home in the heart of the capital. The attackers were determined to steal a safe, using violence against the father of the family.
It was around 5 in the morning when a couple residing on Boulevard Saint-Martin in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris was awakened by the sound of a broken window coming from their son’s room. The couple went to the room, only to be confronted by four burglars, their faces hidden by surgical masks. The burglars were armed with a hammer and a firearm. The mother and her two daughters were tied up in one room, while the father was forced to lead the burglars to the room where the safe was located. The attackers repeatedly hit the father on the head with a hammer in order to obtain the safe’s code.
The burglars stole the contents of the safe as well as the key to the family’s vehicle, and then fled the scene. The family immediately contacted the authorities. The father was taken care of by the firefighters and transported to Lariboisière Hospital, but his life is not in danger.
An investigation has been opened by the Paris prosecutor’s office for “armed robbery”, and the police have been entrusted with the investigations. In order to identify the perpetrators, the investigators will be able to rely on the city’s surveillance cameras, as well as the analysis of samples taken from the victims’ home.
