81-Year-Old Woman Assaulted and Robbed at Home: Five Suspects Arrested while Fleeing

Five suspects, including two minors, were arrested by anti-crime police in the 16th arrondissement on Monday afternoon following an armed robbery at the home of an 81-year-old woman, according to Actu17. The victim suffered violence.

The police were alerted around 3pm by a woman who lives in an apartment on Louis-David Street, near the Trocadéro. She had just seen three suspicious individuals in the common areas of her building. The police quickly arrived at the scene and encountered five suspects who promptly fled in a car upon seeing them approach. “The driver charged at the authorities before colliding with parked vehicles further down the road,” a source close to the case reported.

The five suspects were arrested following the crash. Two of them are residents of Seine-Saint-Denis, one in Essonne, another in Seine-et-Marne, and the last one in Paris. The four young men and one young woman were placed in custody. “One of them is currently serving a sentence on parole,” the same source noted.

The victim suffered a head injury.

The police later discovered that an 81-year-old woman had been attacked and gagged in her apartment, which is located in the same building as the person who raised the alarm. “The octogenarian was struck and had a head injury,” our source continued. She was also threatened with a handgun. The victim was taken care of by the firefighters and transported to the Georges-Pompidou European Hospital in the 15th arrondissement. Though her life is not in danger, she is in shock.

Several items that appear to have been stolen from the octogenarian’s home were found in the suspects’ car. An inventory will be conducted. An investigation has been opened and entrusted to the first district of the judicial police (DPJ). Forensic examinations have been carried out in the victim’s residence. The investigation will shed light on the modus operandi of the alleged perpetrators, including any reconnaissance they may have done prior to the crime. It will also aim to determine if they have committed any other similar crimes.
