While the Lunar New Year took place this year on Saturday, February 10, the celebrations can continue for several weeks. So it’s not the actual New Year’s Day, but the following week that the reference Chinese quarter of Paris celebrated the new year to our greatest pleasure.

The rendezvous for the Chinese New Year parade of the 13th arrondissement was set for Sunday, February 18, between Avenue de Choisy, Porte de Choisy and Avenue d’Ivry. The parade started around 2:30 p.m. for a joyful and lively route.

The route:
Departure at 44 Avenue d’Ivry
Rue de Tolbiac
Avenue de Choisy
Boulevard Masséna
Return to Avenue d’Ivry

We were able to see numerous associations parading in traditional costumes and stunning makeup. Despite the cold, we were swept away by the sound of cymbals and drums in joy and good spirits.

A flagship event of the 13th arrondissement, this festive parade once again brought together thousands of people. It was an opportunity for many to discover Chinese culture, including its traditions and folklore.
