The delisting of the online sales platform Wish is “a courageous decision” believes the owner of the Leboncoin site. This Wednesday, Antoine Jouteau was invited to BFM Business to comment on this rare measure taken by the French fraud repression services.
“I think it’s a good decision,” he explained. At the same time, it should not be addressed only to this platform but to many other platforms which today do not respect the normal rules of imports of new products ”.
“This is only the beginning of a scandal”
The Ministry of the Economy said in a statement that it had taken the decision due to the presence of non-compliant and dangerous products on Wish, which resells cheap products mainly made in China. In the coming days, the Wish site and app should therefore disappear from major search engines like Google and app stores. Access to the site will however still be possible by entering the address directly.
“There is no reason to tolerate online what we do not accept in physical stores,” Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy, told Le Parisien.
“This is only the beginning of a scandal,” said Antoine Jouteau denouncing “low-quality products that do not meet any standard” on certain platforms. He was delighted to see the government “go to the front” to “discipline this world of e-commerce which can sometimes seem a little wild”.
