VfB Stuttgart Triumphs Over Heidenheim, Trares Delivers Important Message to Squad

VfB Stuttgart: Roar victory against Heidenheim - Trares announcement to the team

Stuttgart’s Unconvincing Performance Against Heidenheim

VfB Stuttgart’s test game performance against Heidenheim’s reserve team was not convincing, as it failed to challenge the Bundesliga club’s defense. Heidenheim’s top scorers were absent, and Stuttgart had nothing much to do on the defensive. It was only towards the end of the game that VfB found their groove and won 2-0.

Stuttgart’s Vigorous Start

The Stuttgarters started the game with a lot of vigor, with Tanguy Coulibaly and Juan Perea narrowly failing with a double chance in the 5th minute. Central defender Dan-Axel Zagadou headed over the goal after a corner, and Enzo Millot fired a long-range shot just to the right of the FCH goal in the 11th minute. However, nothing came from the Bundesliga club in the first half, and they hardly challenged Heidenheim’s defense.

The Changes in the Second Half

At halftime, VfB coach Bruno Labbadia made a lot of changes and swapped the system. Luca Pfeiffer and Thomas Kastanaras acted with two instead of just one striker. The change paid off, and VfB took the lead in the 49th minute through a curious pinball own goal from Heidenheim’s Norman Theuerkauf. VfB captain Waldemar Anton increased the lead to 2-0 with a powerful long-range shot.

The Lax Performance of VfB

Despite the two goals, VfB’s performance didn’t improve much, and they struggled to create any further chances. Substitute Dias missed a promising position in the 82nd minute. Bernhard Trares, VfB’s assistant coach, got upset in the middle of the second half and yelled at his players to “Wake up again.” VfB’s coaching team is aware that there is still a lot of room for improvement in the team.

Conclusion

VfB’s performance was mediocre, and the coaching team knows that they have to work hard to improve the team’s overall performance. Only time will tell whether their hard work pays off when they play against Union Berlin on April 1.
