Stefan Leitl, Manager of Hannover 96, Bares His Heart after Heartbreaking Defeat: A lot broke there

Hannover 96: Stefan Leitl suffers: "A lot broke there"

Hannover 96 in Danger of Relegation Battle

Following their 0-1 draw in Braunschweig, Hannover 96 now finds itself only five points ahead of Braunschweig (16th place) and Rostock (17th place). The team is facing a relegation battle and needs points urgently. Captain Ron-Robert Zieler voiced his concern, stating, “We have to orient ourselves downwards, we are in a critical situation. We’re not saved yet, we urgently need points.”

The team’s recent Derby bankruptcy has hurt their spirit, especially for coach Stefan Leitl. Leitl expressed his frustration, “I have the feeling that after five and a half months, in which we invested a lot and played a decent preliminary round, a lot broke with this defeat today.” The cohesion with the fans is also in danger, along with the spirit of optimism created at the beginning of the season.

Despite the negative series, there hasn’t been a coaching discussion yet. However, the pressure on Leitl is growing as the team’s performance has declined from 28 points in the first half of the season to the current struggle.

Leitl mentioned the recent game stoppage rocket shock at the Derby saying, “You mustn’t lose the derby, especially in our situation. That’s why I feel the way I said it. A lot of credit has gone bad. That means hard work again to earn new trust. That doesn’t feel good.”

Overall, Hannover 96 needs to work hard and secure points to avoid getting relegated.
