Significant Increase in Electrical Output with Porsche Cayenne Facelift

Facelift for the Porsche Cayenne significantly increases the electrical output

Porsche is giving its Cayenne crossover model a facelift that significantly increases its electrical performance. The Euro 7 emissions standard has required changes to the engine range and technical modifications to the remaining drives, and the plug-in electric model Cayenne E-Hybrid will also have a significantly larger battery. However, a battery-electric variant is still not in the range.

For Europe, the far-reaching revision means that the Cayenne Turbo GT with 485 kW will be removed from the range due to emissions regulations. Porsche’s sporting goal, however, is to keep combustion engines in the range until either a lack of purchases or government regulations make the offer unattractive.

The Cayenne S delivers 349 kW and offers a maximum torque of 650 Nm, which is 26 kW and 50 Nm more than before. The basic model with 260 kW and 500 Nm (previously 250 kW and 450 Nm) retains the six-cylinder.

In the Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupé, there has been an increase in electrical power. Compared to the previous Cayenne E-Hybrid, its power has increased by six to 346 kW. The maximum torque has fallen by 50 to 650 Nm. The balance of power between the V6 and the e-machine shifts from 250 to 100 kW to 224 to 130 kW.

Porsche is increasing the battery capacity from 17.9 to 25.9 kWh, which almost doubles its maximum electric range from 48 to 90 kilometers in the WLTP. The chassis now has two-chamber air springs with adaptive two-valve dampers, in which the rebound and compression stages can be controlled separately.

The Cayenne will be equipped with three screens that take up almost the entire width of the cockpit. The instrument cluster is now curved like in the Taycan and measures 12.65 inches, the center touchscreen remains at 12.3 inches and the passenger screen is 10.9 inches.

The new Porsche Cayenne costs at least 89,097 euros and the Coupé is available from 93,143 euros. For the Cayenne E-Hybrid, Porsche charges 103,344 euros (Coupé 106,352 euros) and for the Cayenne S from 107,542 euros (Coupé from 112,778 euros). The new generation should be available from July 2023. Anyone who still wants to secure a Cayenne Turbo GT should act soon.
