The Train has No Brakes: Prussia Münster’s Unstoppable Rise
The excitement is palpable in Münster as their regional league kickers blaze towards the third division, seemingly unstoppable. With eleven wins in a row, and eight unbeaten away games, it’s no longer a question of if they will succeed, but when.
Captain Marc Lorenz attributes the team’s success to their fans who he refers to as the 12th man. True to their motto, All together for Preussen Münster, around 1200 supporters packed into the stadium at Hünting to celebrate their team’s victories.
Their next challenge comes from voluntary relegation Kaan-Marienborn on April 1st. Head coach Sascha Hildmann is not taking anything for granted and warns that the team needs to stay focused.
Despite their success, Hildmann is not yet ready to talk about promotion. While he recognizes that the team is well on their way, he insists that there is still work to be done.
For the Prussians, their season finale on May 13th against RW Ahlen is already completely sold-out. With 12,794 supporters cheering them on, they hope to bring a mega-successful season to a well-deserved conclusion with the crowning of champions.
While they wait for that final game, they’ll play other popular home games in front of enthusiastic crowds. 7,400 tickets have already been sold for the Easter game against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, along with good sales for Düsseldorf II and Fortuna Cologne.
Striker Gerrit Wegkamp, who scored his 18th goal of the season in the 3rd minute of their game against Bocholt, expresses self-criticism for his missed opportunities. Though he wishes for a higher victory, Wegkamp acknowledges the team’s struggles on an uneven surface and how crucial the three points were for their pursuit of success.
For the Prussians, the train has no brakes, and they ride full steam ahead towards the third division, supported by their dedicated fans.
