Police officers are concerned about their working conditions

For the police officers, there is an anxiety that has crept in under the Christmas tree. The fear of not knowing what to expect during the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will take place from July 26th to September 8th, 2024. The event, both sporty and festive, requires a particularly significant commitment from the police forces. On average, 30,000 civil servants will be mobilized daily, with peaks at 45,000, such as during the opening ceremony on July 26th.

On that day, 20,000 agents from the provinces will have to come to Paris. And they will probably still be numerous during the rest of the period. Will they be selected on a voluntary basis? For now, the police officers do not know. “For us, mobilizing agents without taking into account the individual and family specificities of each one is a red line,” says Jérôme Moisant, deputy secretary general of the Unité SGP Police union.

Insufficient compensation
Between the protests against pension reform, the holding of the Rugby World Cup, and the security context resulting from the war in the Middle East, the police officers have been put to the test over the past year.
