Alain Coicaud, the manager of the French men’s saber team, was in Bourges this weekend and talked about the importance of qualifying for the Olympics.
Why were you in Bourges this weekend for the fourth stage of the national saber circuit?
The French team consists of twelve people at each World Cup and we try to renew the last selected ones. We took into account this competition, organized by President Yannick Le Cléac’h, to try to select two names. Among the first ones, we found the young talents we were expecting. I am focused on high level performance, but also on nurturing the next generation to prepare for post-Paris 2024. We have very talented young athletes and I wish them a bright future.
